Why Choose To Sealcoat?
For all its benefits, paving with asphalt has a minor drawback: poor resistance to sunlight. Sealcoating your pavement when it starts to show signs of age is a great deterrent to the erosion caused by our state’s heat. Our experienced sealcoating contractors understand the Texas weather and know how to sealcoat your driveway, parking lot, or basketball court to withstand our area’s climate.
Sealcoating not only protects from the sun, it protects from oxidation, fluctuating temperatures, and traffic strain (weight, reckless driving, and oil and gas spots) as well. All of which ages your asphalt.
How do you determine that your asphalt is in need of sealcoating? Asphalt sealcoating is a type of preventative maintenance for your pavement. It is in your best interest to have a sealcoat applied before any major signs of aging begin to show.
Some early signs of aging include:
- color slowly fading from black to brown
- rough appearance, no longer smooth
- brittle, sanding off around the edges
How Does Sealcoating Work?
Sealcoating works by acting as a barrier between your asphalt and its external influences. It is a tar-based mixture, applied by a sprayer or squeegee depending on the situation, and is greatly resistant to water, gas, oil, chemicals, and UV radiation. Asphalt alone is ready for use immediately, but a sealcoat needs a short amount of time to cure, usually 24 hours. We recommend waiting at least 90 days before having your new asphalt sealed, to give it time to adjust. After that, the benefits of sealcoating make it a service that is hard to refuse.
More Benefits of Asphalt Sealcoating
- the smooth, black coloration of a sealcoat makes your asphalt look brand new
- makes traffic lines more visible
- heat works with sealcoat to make it more pliable
Our most popular request is for sealcoating driveways. Deteriorating driveways pose a safety hazard, can possibly cause tire damage, and are unsightly, to say the least. Residential customers have less money to invest in repairing cracked, stained asphalt paving. Sealcoating the driveway is the best way to preserve its life, and it won’t need reapplying for up to
- seals small cracks that can turn into large problems
